Sorex Sells! ® is aimed at the small to medium retail market. We have installations with 1 till and installations with 6 or more. In general it will easily support up to 20 tills in a production environment. Since the tills themselves sell independently of the server, there is no loss in system performance when more tills are added.

Sells! ® is fast and efficient at the point of sale. One of our clients recently took a single till offsite to a trade fair and completed over 2100 transactions in 3 eight-hour days. That's less than 45 seconds per transaction - on average. Granted they had three people working flat-out in order to get enough product past the till to do that. When the till was brought back and connected to the store network it was automatically welcomed back into the group of tills, its sales were automatically updated and recorded in the system database.

Redundant Client-Server Design

  • A server module that can run on any computer in the store collects sales information from all the Tills (Cash Registers) at specified times or time intervals.
  • The Tills can operate without this server for an indeterminate length of time, resolving worries about hardware and network failures.
  • The Tills each have a copy of the entire product database, they can be taken offsite and remain fully functional. This is a great feature for selling at fairs and trade shows. When the system is brought back to the store the server will automatically update it with new products and transfer all of the sales information.
  • There is no realistic limit for the number of different products; one client has over 16 000 products in their database.

Complete Inventory Tracking and Control

  • Sorex Sells! ® maintains inventory by selling the oldest items first (FIFO) and tracks the average cost of goods by maintaining a weighted average of the costs of all unsold items.
  • Complete receiving and ordering system gives the option to pick products from multiple vendors and build multiple orders at once without searching.
  • Settable inventory triggers to suggest reordering of products when the inventory levels fall below a specified threshold.

Web Ready

  • Sells! ® is ready for deployment in e-Commerce situations.
  • It can be fully integrated with the store at the same time. This means that your inventory levels and all your products can be automatically reflected on all fronts.

Designed for Point Of Sale

  • Sells! ® is not an add-on to an accounting package. It was written from the beginning as a point of sale system. This means that it helps you do what you want to do: Sell!
  • You can choose to sell products by as many different SKUs or codes as you'd like. This makes it easy for a clerk to process a sale if products have several barcodes.
  • Easy full text searching for products at the till. No guessing or yelling across the store to try to figure out what code to use for a product.
  • 35 easy to program and use shortcut keys for selling product. You can associate different quantities and discounts with the same product across different shortcuts.
  • Supports multiple currencies throughout.
  • Supports multiple payment (tender) forms. You can choose to separate debit cards and credit cards and U.S. cash or Canadian cash.
  • Default quantities for products - some things almost always come in 6 packs, but you can sell only 3 if you want.
  • Easy to apply discounts, per product, per sale, by customer etc.
  • Different prices per product for different customer groups makes it possible to support wholesale selling.
  • Runs on standard Windows/Intel PCs with modern processors (minimum specs coming soon).
  • Uses standard POS printers, display poles and cash drawers.
  • Easily changed header and footer on the till receipt, easily changed greeting on the display pole.

Security, Groups and Accounts

  • Complete security model allows you to create groups of users and determine what features they can use.
  • Comes with default groups such as Owners, Managers, Cashiers and Customers.
  • Features are separated at a low level, like:
    • Selling (you might not let the Customers sell, for example)
    • Generate reports (you might not want your Cashiers to see the cost of inventory)
    • Change exchange rates
    • Change accounts
    • Change accounts based on seniority (Managers probably shouldn't excommunicate owners)
    • Change groups
  • Users/accounts can be in multiple groups (a Manager can be a Cashier and a Customer).
  • Full password protection.
  • Passwords can be left blank for cashiers, but only for selling.

Microsoft Access or PostgreSQL Server Module

  • For larger installations (4 or more Tills) we recommend PostgreSQL as a robust and nimble server-side database.
  • Sorex Sells! ® is also designed to work in settings using file sharing with Microsoft Access databases for smaller stores that don't need the extra power and features of PostgreSQL.
